Last month, boards of selectmen from both towns met over dinner to begin discussions, said O’Brien. The towns already share a sewage treatment plant on Rte. 20. One example of a merger could be coordinating the schedules of both towns’ libraries: Neither would be shuttered, but could share operating hours during the work week.
