100% pass rate in latest Police Department alcohol compliance check

On Tuesday, December 22nd, the Wayland Police Department conducted alcohol compliance checks of local businesses that have a license to sell liquor.   Two youths, a nineteen year old and an eighteen year old, were sent into the establishments with instructions to attempt to purchase alcohol without showing any identification.

All liquor licensees refused to sell alcohol to these two youths. This is the first time in several years that the town had a one hundred percent success rate during a compliance check for all of the establishments in town with a liquor license.

The Wayland Police Department regularly conducts compliance checks at local businesses in an effort to reduce the underage consumption of alcohol or tobacco products.
