School Committee reviewing Late Night and Overnight Student Trip Policy

The Wayland School Committee has been reviewing its Late Night and Overnight Student Trip Policy (IJOA) and is contemplating changing it effective December 2009.  Citizens who wish to review the current and proposed wording of this policy are encouraged to view them online or visit the superintendent’s office in the Wayland Town Building during normal business hours where all School Committee policies are on file and available to the public.

Wayland residents and other interested parties are encouraged to offer oral and/or written comments and reactions to the School Committee regarding the proposed policy changes before its Nov. 9 meeting. At the meeting, it is the intent of the School Committee to take action on the revisions to Policy IJOA.

All School Committee meetings begin at 7pm in the School Committee Room on the second floor of the Town Building and are open to the public.

Annually, the School Committee reviews all of its policies and periodically writes new ones or revises existing ones as circumstances warrant. Committee members believe the proposed changes to the Late Night and Overnight Student Trip Policy are in the best long-term interest of the Wayland Public Schools.

Questions concerning these changes may also be directed to Superintendent Gary Burton at 508-358-3763.
