Wayland, other towns building new schools find competition for space

Boston Globe 9/17/09: Wayland, other towns building new schools find competition for space. Throughout the planning process for the new Wayland High School, advocates for the facility’s wide range of interests have found you can’t always get what you want.

The specialized science laboratories have won approval, but not the new gymnasium, and a compromise was necessary on the size of the auditorium.

Although officials don’t expect Wayland’s new high school to be open until the fall of 2013, after the current freshman class will have graduated, planners have been working to strike a balance among the many wish lists of the school’s departments.
