The 2009-2010 basketball season is drawing near and registration is now open on the Wayland Youth Basketball (WYB) website for all programs.   WYB will once again be placing teams in the MetroWest and Tri-Town Youth Basketball leagues and providing the Saturday morning WYB K-2 program. MetroWest is the more competitive travel league for boys and girls in grades 5 through 8.  Tri-Town, which experienced solid growth last year and now enters its third season, is the more recreational league for boys and girls in grades 3 through 8.   The popular K-2 program also enters its third year and is a beginner program for girls and boys in grades K-2.

A few key dates to note:

• Tryouts for the boys Metrowest teams will be on Sunday and Monday, October 4^th and 5^th.   Please see the website for specific times and locations for your child’s grade.
• Tryouts for the girls Metrowest teams will be on Sunday and Tuesday, October 4^th and 6^th.   Please see the website for specific times and locations for your child’s grade.
• Evaluations for the Tri-Town league, both boys and girls, will be held on Sunday October 18^th.   Please see the website for specific times and locations for your child’s grade.
• The K-2 program is expected to begin on the first Saturday in December.   Once the schedule has been finalized, it will be posted on the website.

Last year was a great year for Wayland Youth Basketball.   There was a significant increase in the number of players participating and the town’s teams showed a great deal of improvement.   WYB hopes your children will participate again this year and encourages last year’s players to tell their friends who haven’t played in the past about WYB’s programs.  WYB would especially love to see more girls signing up!
