Candidates’ Night: Wednesday, March 25

Letters to the Editor and lawn signs have proliferated recently, in anticipation of the town election on April 7. Wayland voters’ last and best chance to form opinions, by seeing and hearing the candidates in person, will be at The League of Women Voters Candidates’ Night, on Wednesday, March 25. All 24 candidates for 11 town offices have been invited to participate, and most are planning to do so. Only three of the offices are contested this year. Three candidates are vying for two seats on the Board of Selectmen: Thomas Fay, Susan Pope and Alan Reiss. For the three openings on the School Committee there are five candidates: Malcolm Astley, Jeffrey Baron, Jeff Dieffenbach (incumbent), Steven Glovsky, and Paul Grasso. The other contested opening is for a one-year term on the Board of Library Trustees. Candidates are Charles Jack Peters and Thaddeus Thompson.

In keeping with the League policy of strict impartiality, the proceedings will be moderated by Joan Craig, of the Natick LWV.

There will also be a discussion of the warrant articles related to debt exclusion.

Candidates’ Night will be held in the large hearing room of the Town Building. Refreshments will be served at 7:15, with the introduction of candidates beginning at 7:30pm.
