Q&A with the School Committee Candidates
Write-in candidate Jeff Baron has chosen not to participate. He sent this statement as his explanation for this decision.
Dear Voters:
After much consideration, I have decided that this forum for questions is not one in which I'd choose to participate. A key part of the process of running for the School Committee has been my interaction with the many hundreds of voters I have spoken with, listened to, and interacted with. Many of these questions require more than 100-word answers, along with a back-and-forth dialogue with those asking the question. Given my preference for two-way communication, I seek to utilize interactive forums as a means of speaking with and listening to people over a static means of communication.
I would encourage anyone interested in my answers to questions to visit my website at www.jeffreysbaron.com and follow up your visit with a phone call or e-mail directly to me. I would also encourage you to attend the League of Women Voter's night on April 2nd. I have no problem engaging in a conversation with any resident or group of residents of Wayland and sharing my views on these or other matters. I simply prefer this be done in an bi-directional forum and will devote the limited time left in this campaign to these efforts.
I will close with one last IMPORTANT point. I have been approached by many asking questions about my views on issues based on misinformation provided to them by individuals or groups in town. Don't take this information at face value. If you believe I have a view counter to what you support, ask me directly about my stance to be sure you understand my position. I've found that in many cases, the information being put out is exactly the opposite of what my real positions are. My website and my personal answers are the only words that you can absolutely rely on to be true.
Thank you for understanding that my lack of written response here has nothing to do with a lack of answers, it has everything to do with a desire to communicate in a different and, in my opinion, preferable manner. I welcome your feedback.
