Special Election to Fill Vacancy in Massachusetts' Fifth Congressional District

    • On September 25, the candidates will debate on NECN. The debate will be pre-taped and will air at 7pm.
    • On September 25, The League of Women Voters has scheduled a forum at Acton-Boxborough Regional High School, 36 Charter Road, Acton, beginning at 7:30pm. All of the candidates were invited to participate, but candidates Jim Ogonowski and Niki Tsongas declined. The independent candidates will answer voter questions at this forum.  Audience members will be able to submit written questions for the candidates before the program begins at 7:30pm. The written questions must be addressed to all candidates. All questions will be asked by the forum moderator.
    • On September 27, the candidates will participate in a debate hosted by the League of Women Voters in the Collins Center at Andover High School, 100 Shawsheen Road, Andover. This forum will be moderated by Emily Rooney, host and executive editor of "Greater Boston" on WGBH television, and begins at 7:30pm. The candidates participating, in the order they will appear on the ballot are James Ogonowski, Republican; Niki Tsongas, Democrat; Kurt Hayes, independent; Patrick Murphy, independent; and Kevin Thompson, Constitution party. Audience members will be able to submit written questions for the candidates before the program begins at 7:30pm. The written questions must be addressed to all candidates. All questions will be asked by the forum moderator.
    • Niki Tsongas will visit the Islamic Center of Boston in Wayland on Sunday October 7 at 11:30am.  She will be giving a talk on "Entering Mainstream Politics" in the main prayer hall of the Center. The program is open to anyone interested.  The Islamic Center is at 126 Boston Post Rd. (Route 20).
    • On Oct. 9, the candidates will participate in a debate co-hosted by UMass Lowell and The Lowell Sun.
