Art Exhibits
During July at the Library:
Wayland Town Building ArtSpace, through September 10: Margret Krakauer has organized a group show for her students in the Wayland Cultural Council Art Gallery, located in the Town Building. There will be a reception in honor of the artists in the foyer of the entrance to the Town Building on Monday evening, August 11, from 6:45-8pm. The students exhibiting are Dorothy Egan, Evelyn Ekmejian, Eberhard Frey, Nancy Gerald, Bill Hearne, Wendy Sobel, Padma Kannabrian, Shirley Knowland, Seema Mysore, Margaret Hill, and Yvonne Drymiotis. Margret Krakauer teaches adult studio classes in the Wayland Art Center through Wayland Park and Recreation. The students work in a variety of techniques, including graphite and colored pencils, pen and ink, pastel, and watercolor and acrylic painting. Each student chooses a medium and subject, and works independently during the class. Students have the opportunity to develop skill in one medium, but also to explore and experiment in others. A longtime student of internationally known local artist George Dergalis, Margret works predominantly in watercolor, but also enjoys other media, including sculpture. She is currently working on a butterfly series in watercolor. She travels often to Italy and France and loves to paint scenes from her explorations. She is particularly intrigued by Provence, and has produced a series of watercolors of that region. In addition to her adult classes at the Wayland Art Center, Margret has co-taught a Summer Arts Workshop with potter Phyllis Biegun, also sponsored by Wayland Park and Recreation. Textural Fantasies, Weston Library, for the month of July. The exhibit of works by Wayland artist Phyllis Stone Aliber is a mixed-media event, including her most recent work as well as others from her collection. All pieces will be displayed in the library's gallery and adjoining Community Room. |
